About WhyAllah
Every entry on this site is a community submission. A certified Sunni scholar is reviewing the content. Until that review is complete, treat the catalog as a starting point for your own reflection — not a final verdict. Disagreements, corrections, and additions are welcome.
The thesis: no one in any age has said what Allah has said — the kind of specific, verifiable, detailed statements about His acts, powers, and creation that the Quran places in the text. The Quran says how the heavens were raised without pillars, why the two oceans don't mix, what happens inside a mother's womb, when the embryo is formed, how the mountains were anchored so the earth doesn't shake, who has knowledge of the unseen that no one can encompass.
The 99 Names are the lens. The Signs are the case.
What this site does
- Displays the 99 Names in Arabic, transliteration, and English meaning
- For each Name, shows every Quranic verse where that attribute is mentioned
- Presents Arabic and English side by side — Uthmani script + Sahih International translation
- Catalogs the specific signs Allah places in the Quran — about creation, history, the prophets, the end times
- Marks every entry with a verification status: widely-accepted, discussed, contested, or open
- Allows full-text search across all 6,236 verses
The 99 Names
The traditional list is reported in the hadith of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, recorded in Sahih Muslim 2610 and other collections. The hadith says: "Allah has ninety-nine Names, one hundred minus one, and whoever believes in their meanings and acts accordingly, will enter Paradise." 78 of the 99 Names appear as nouns in the Quran. The remaining 21 are established only from hadith — we mark these clearly with a "Hadith only" badge on the relevant pages.
The site is in active development. We are working on: (1) completing the audit of all 713 name→verse mappings, (2) adding 50+ more signs to the catalog, (3) integrating public wiki feedback so anyone can propose edits, (4) deploying to whyallah.one as the primary domain with whyallah.online and whyallah.info as redirects.
The Signs
Beyond the 99 Names, the Quran places hundreds of specific, verifiable signs in the text: that the sky is raised without pillars (13:2), that the two oceans don't mix (55:19-20), that the embryo forms in distinct stages (23:12-14), that Pharaoh's body would be preserved (10:90-92), that the Romans would be victorious within a few years after defeat (30:1-6). Each is a sign or descriptive statement that can be checked against the world. We list these in the Signs section with sources, classical tafsir, and honest limits.

A note for the ummah
WhyAllah was built by a small team, with a lot of help. It belongs to no one. Every verse, every name, every sign on this site is from the Quran, which is the speech of Allah. The work we did here — translating, indexing, presenting — is small. What we hope for is even smaller: that you read, that you reflect, that you pray for every Muslim living and deceased, and that you share the reward with those who came before us and those who will come after.
رَبَّنَا اغْفِرْ لَنَا وَلِإِخْوَانِنَا الَّذِينَ سَبَقُونَا بِالْإِيمَانِ وَلَا تَجْعَلْ فِي قُلُوبِنَا غِلًّا لِّلَّذِينَ آمَنُوا رَبَّنَا إِنَّكَ رَءُوفٌ رَّحِيمٌ
"Our Lord, forgive us and our brothers who preceded us in faith, and put not in our hearts [any] resentment toward those who have believed. Our Lord, indeed You are Kind and Merciful."
