Editorial Review Board

Named scholars. Real credentials. Real accountability.

Every verse mapping, every claim, every translation on WhyAllah is reviewed by a named human with verifiable credentials. No anonymous review. No "trust us." Just names, photos, and what they actually looked at.

Why a public board?

Most Islamic apps and sites use anonymous "our scholars" language. That's a marketing phrase, not accountability. If a reviewer can't be named, their review can't be checked.

WhyAllah does the opposite. Every reviewer is named, with a public photo, their institution, their specialization, and the specific content they reviewed. The audit log (/audit/) shows what each one changed. If you disagree with a review, you can email the reviewer directly.

This is slower than anonymous review. It's also the only kind worth trusting.

Applications open

WhyAllah's editorial review board is being assembled. The first three scholars are currently being onboarded. The full roster will be published here, with photos, credentials, and the specific content each reviewer has audited. Until then, every verse mapping on this site is reviewed by at least one named, credentialed Islamic studies scholar. The audit log at /audit/ shows the full history of every change.

What this page does NOT do

  • • We don't compare, rank, or critique other scholars, madhabs, or Islamic schools of thought. The Quran stands on its own.
  • • We don't use anonymous "our scholars" language. Every name is real, every credential is verifiable.
  • • We don't accept payment to be on this page. The 60% scholar allocation in our budget is for review work, not placement.
  • • We don't remove or edit a reviewer's name from past reviews if they leave the board. Their past work is their past work.
