Pharaoh & Tyrants
The Quran names Pharaoh's claim of divinity, his army's drowning, and a striking archaeological detail: 'this day we will preserve your body so you may be a sign for those who come after.' 7th-century Arabia had no knowledge of Egyptian royal mummification.

"Pharaoh said, 'O chiefs, I have not known any god for you other than me.' The named claim of divinity — a specific, named Pharaoh, not a generic tyrant."
English (Sahih International)
And Pharaoh said, "O eminent ones, I have not known you to have a god other than me. Then ignite for me, O Haman, [a fire] upon the clay and make for me a tower that I may look at the God of Moses. And indeed, I do think he is among the liars."

"Then he (Pharaoh) said, 'I am your supreme ruler (رَبُّكُمُ الْأَعْلَىٰ).' The Arabic 'rabbukum al-a'la' — 'I am your highest lord' — is the precise claim."
English (Sahih International)

"We took the Children of Israel across the sea, and Pharaoh and his soldiers pursued them in tyranny and enmity until, when drowning overtook him, he said, 'I believe that there is no deity except that in whom the Children of Israel believe, and I am of those who submit.' The named confession — Pharaoh believes only at the moment of drowning, too late. The structural sequence: claim → pursue → drown → believe too late."
English (Sahih International)
And We took the Children of Israel across the sea, and Pharaoh and his soldiers pursued them in tyranny and enmity until, when drowning overtook him, he said, "I believe that there is no deity except that in whom the Children of Israel believe, and I am of the Muslims."

"Indeed, this was a clear trial for you, and We preserved his body (نُنَجِّيكَ بِبَدَنِكَ) as a sign for those who come after. The body of Pharaoh is preserved — a specific, named, falsifiable archaeological claim. The body of Ramesses II was found at the Egyptian Museum in Cairo, mummified exactly as the verse states."
English (Sahih International)
Indeed, the tree of zaqqum

"Now (you believe), while you had been rebellious before and were of the corrupters? Today We will preserve your body so you may be a sign for those who come after. The named address: too late to believe. The body is named as the only thing preserved. A 7th-century Arab had no source for the preservation of an Egyptian royal mummy."
English (Sahih International)
So today We will save you in body that you may be to those who succeed you a sign. And indeed, many among the people, of Our signs, are heedless
